Message from Bethan Jones, DC

I hope that everyone, members, parents, instructors and friends are all well. Despite all usual pony club activities have been suspended, I hope that you are able to ride your ponies in a safe place. If you find that you are getting a bit bored, you could give your tack a good clean and oil it well. If you visit the Pony Club website there will be creative activities to help keep members active and engaged. Let’s hope that we all stay well.

Easter Bonnet competition

Get active and decorate your own Easter bonnet riding hat. Post your pictures on our Facebook page. We can choose a winner on Easter Sunday. Prizes for 1st to 4th. Looking forward to seeing all your photos.

Social Distancing Pony Club Activities

As we are not able to carry on with our Pony Club events at the moment, Iona has been trying to think of activities to keep us all busy!

Pony Club Badges: If  members would like to study towards any of the Pony Club Badges, please let Iona know and she can send you the syllabus. When we are free to meet up again, we will assess you on that badge.

Art Competition: If there are any budding artists in the Flint & Denbigh Branch perhaps you would like to enter the Competition? Please paint a picture of Pony Club. It can be anything to do with Pony Club: Rally, Camp, Games, Polocrosse, SJ. Tetrathlon, Fun Rides, Games Equipment, Grooming Kit, Picnic at Fun days, anything that comes to mind. The competition will be Judged at the end of June and split into ages according to the entries.

Memory/Scrap Book: You could make a Pony Club Memory Book. Photos and stories about your Pony Club life and experiences, from when you joined. You could also add what you and your pony are doing during these difficult times. These will also be judged later in the year.

Fancy Dress Photos: Send us some photos of you and your pony in Fancy Dress. If we get enough Photos we may be able to make our own Flint & Denbigh Branch Calendar for 2021.

If any one has any other ideas, please let Iona know (secretary@fndponyclub.org.uk).

Dressage Anywhere

The Pony Club and Dressage Anywhere have teamed up to offer a special Online Dressage Championships for all Pony Club members. Dressage Anywhere is a great way to compete online from anywhere, without having to leave your yard. Simply register for free, choose a class to enter, then ride and film your dressage test and upload it for judging. You’ll receive a link to download your score sheet and be in the running for rosettes!

This year each monthly competition from April 2020 to July 2020 will be a qualifying round towards The Pony Club Online Dressage Championships 2020. There are classes from Walk & Trot all the way up to Open level. All you need are two scores at 60% or above to qualify! Go to www.dressageanywhere.com to get started.

Horse Events

Horse Events are promoting three separate competitions: a Virtual Team Challenge, Virtual Dressage, and Virtual Jumping with Style. All have classes and prizes for Pony Club teams and members. Find out more on https://www.horse-events.co.uk/events/virtual/

Parent and Member Feedback

Following the AGM, we have agreed to look at dealing with feedback in a more collaborative system via the Flint & Denbigh Feedback Form found on the website. Please do ensure that before you submit feedback you take the time to read the Code of Conduct for Pony Club. We would like to encourage good feedback as well as not so good! Once you complete the feedback form this will go to a feedback email which is now going to be dealt with by Mary Tetley, who is involved in a similar process in another National Governing Body.
