Mini Camp 2023

73 members aged from nearly 2 to 10 years old accompanied by their parents, grand parents, leaders etc. attended our annual mini camp at Glan Y Wern Farm, Llandyrnog.

There were three sunny, fun filled days with the members being split into 10 groups. The instructors gave the children an opportunity to do some show jumping, cross country, flatwork, riding in the river and jumping the logs, games, handy pony and a trail ride through the woods.

After lunch the members all worked towards their mini badges – birds, foot fall, pony needs or feeding the pony.

Nigel was brilliant at coaxing the reluctant ponies into the river. Once in, they were loving getting their feet wet.

The members raced the plastic ducks and getting their own feet wet.

Carrie Ford, former champion lady National Hunt Jockey came one afternoon with her mechanical horse and gave a talk about racing.  The members were able to ride the mechanical horse in racing position, do some fitness exercises and ask questions about racing.

Ann Jones supplied a lovely picnic lunch for all the campers and instructors every day.

The three days were over and I hope that everyone had enjoyed the time spent here.

I must take this opportunity to thank Arwyn for planning his farming activities around mini camp and allowing us to ride through his silage fields!

Thank you also to Iona for all her work done for our branch throughout the year.

Kathleen Cox has taken fabulous photographs, which are available to buy from K C Photography Facebook page. Photos have also been uploaded to the website gallery: https://fndponyclub.org.uk/mini-camp-23/
