The Junior International Tetrathlon took place last weekend (June 3/4th) at Moreton Morrell Agricultural College near Warwick.  This a team and Individual competition between Scotland, N.Ireland, S. Ireland, Wales and England.

Two Flint and Denbigh Members had been selected to represent Wales.  Leah Lamb competed as an Individual in the 15 yr old class and Orla Kissane was a member of the Junior Wales and Borders team of 4 girls.  All 4 girls were from Area 5.

There were 138 competitors, 80 of whom were in 16 teams.

The Wales and Borders team came 6th.  Being a team of 4 was a disadvantage as most teams had 5 members—lowest score is discounted.

The weather was perfect.  The shoot and swim took place on the Saturday, ride and run on the Sunday.  There was a raucous competition on Sat night when each team produced a show and the theme was Musicals.  Hair, make up, daring outfits were the order of the day. Central England won with their Rocky Horror show.

The XC on the Sunday asked plenty of questions and only 30% of the riders scored the maximum 1400 points.   It was probably the biggest course Orla had tackled and she unfortunately lost 300 points.  She made up for it in the run however by being the 3rd fastest runner in the competition— well done Orla. 1500 m in 5.29. Outstanding.  Orla has another year in Juniors so watch this space !

It was also a first for Leah on her relatively new horse Fred.  They have worked hard at becoming a partnership and finished a lovely round scoring the maximum 1400 points. Leah came first in her class with a shoot of 960 and a PB run.
