Pony Club – Clarification of the Vaccination Rule

There has been clarification of wording for the Vaccination Rule, regarding Area competitions and the Spring Festival. The full revised rule is located at https://pcuk.org/media/eibpycgm/the-pony-club-vaccination-rule-v22-1-1.pdf. The wording of the last bullet point now reads:

Booster vaccinations must be administered at a maximum of 12 months intervals. Horses competing at the finals of the Spring Festival and at qualifying competitions for summer championships, including the Grassroots Regional Championships, must have received a booster within the 6 months +21 days (but not within the 7 days) before arrival at the competition.

This means a competitor could have an annual booster in March in preparation for the Spring Festival in April and this booster would still be within 6 months +21days of the Summer Championships in August.

Hickstead – PC show jumping – Friday 1st July 2022

From Helen Jackson, Area Rep for Area 12:

“As many of you will remember Hickstead has for very many years held a very prestigious competition for Pony Club teams. Unfortunately, last year the date was changed to fit everything in after the covid delay and it was very poorly attended. James Loffet has spoken with Lizzie Dunn and they have moved it forward to avoid clashes but unfortunately, it is not within the school holidays but hopefully after most exams.  There is now no limit on teams from each Area, the more the merrier and the whole competition will take place in the international arena.

This link is to their page, but it still only has 2021 Schedule and Entry Form: https://www.hickstead.co.uk/entries-results-schooling/the-hurst-college-national-schools-and-pony-club-championships/

Winter League Show Jumping Results

Another great day for Flint & Denbigh members at Southview for Cheshire Hunt South’s Winter League. We all managed to escape the predicted storm thank goodness.

  • Class 1 60cm: Set the bar with a team win. Currently top of the leader-board: keep up the good work team! With 34 competitors Elsie Lynch managed an amazing individual third place followed closely by Poppy Miller in sixth place. They both rode fantastic rounds well done girls.
  • Class two 70 cm: no team place in unfortunately. Again an amazing third individual for Elsie Lynch and fourth for Poppy Miller.
  • In the 80 cm: The team came six place. Individually Izzy Miller came third with a super round, also Isabella Stone came very close fifth with another amazing round, well done both! In the mix team with Elsie Lynch came second, well done Elsie a lovely round.
  • No team for the 90 but Amber Bellis and Constance Wight were in a mixed team coming second place. Well done girls.
  • In the meter class again no team but Amber Bellis was in a mixed team with a team win.

So another successful Winter League for all our members. Thank you to all that attended: you all rode beautifully and you were all turned out very smartly. Thank you for supporting these competitions.

Tetrathlon Competitions 2022

A few people have been asking Penny Wingfield about the regional and championship competitions and how teams and qualification work so here is a brief summary:

Winter Tri Champs, 27 March, Grantham

Mini, junior and open qualify as individuals. The Area 5 qualifier is 13 March but people can also qualify at other areas.

When each area knows who has qualified they form area teams of 4 people taken from across the classes.

Senior International (previously called Senior Regionals), 5-7 Aug, Pontispool

Junior International (previously called Junior Regionals), 3-5 June, Moreton Morrell

Competitors from areas 5, 10 and 18 represent Wales and Borders. Branches will be asked who would like to be invited then those competitors have to provide details of previous experience. Some people will compete as individuals only and some will be put into the team as well.

Mini Regionals (no date yet) are less formal and open to anyone who wants to go along. How they sort teams varies a bit from year to year.

Junior, Intermediate and Open Championships, 12 – 14 Aug, Offchurch Bury

Teams are primarily branch based. Age group teams qualify for their branch at our Tet Qualifier (18-19 June). Individuals who qualify there may also be sorted into one or more mixed branch teams by their DC/team manager. Then anyone not in any sort of branch team may be put into a mixed Area 5 team by the Area 5 committee. Competitors require special permission to qualify out of area.

Grassroots teams at the championships are usually branch based but details vary from year to year as this competition evolves.

Dates for these and other competitions can be found on the Tetrathlon calendar at https://teamup.com/kshpb2vii6tawm7hdx
