Camp Duties

Parents

Please note that camp is relying on volunteers to enable it to run smoothly and at an affordable price. Each member attending camp should have a volunteer that does at least 8 hours during the week. Some have volunteered for first and last day: that is NOT good enough. We are desperately short of parents to help in the kitchen, evening supervision and nightwatch. We are needing volunteers for morning duty on the pony lines.

The lunch time pony lines duty is a very easy option, so I will be putting some of the volunteers from pony lines to help in the kitchen.

Please let me know which days and when you are available to volunteer.

Flint & Denbigh Combined Training

23rd June. Please see attached for details:

Cheshire Shield Horse Trials and Area 4/5 Eventing Championship and Regional Championship Qualifier

Please find attached the schedule and entry form for the above event on Saturday 6th July at Somerford Park Farm, as well as some information regarding third party public liability insurance and an FAQ sheet.

The event incorporates the 2019 Area 4 and Area 5 Championship and Regional Championship qualifiers. The event includes the Open PC90 for individual PC members which was introduced for those PC members who have worked their way up to competing at PC110 level but who have a novice/younger horse with which they wish to compete at PC90 level. We continue to accept entries from non-Pony Club riders and we will do our very best to accommodate as many as possible.

Once again this year we are proposing to start the competition with the PC80 class and work through the classes in ascending height order thus finishing the day with the PC110. This worked well last year and enables us to be as efficient as possible in getting through the day.

In order to encourage as many branches as possible to enter teams, our usual restriction on riders entering a single class on two horses will not apply where the second ride is intended to make up a team.

As usual, those Pony Club Branches wishing to enter teams are able to leave team selection almost until the last minute. All riders/branches should submit entries for individuals by the closing date of FRIDAY 21st JUNE and team selection from those individual entries does not need to be notified (by email would be preferred) until FRIDAY 28th  JUNE.

It is important, however, that ALL RIDERS HAVE ENTERED BY THE 21st JUNE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE TO BE INCLUDED IN A TEAM.

We are pleased to confirm that the entry fee, which includes the start fee and medical cover, has been held at the same rate as the last two years – just £75 for all classes. I think you will agree that this represents excellent value for money given the superb quality of facilities that Somerford Park Farm offers.

Please ensure you use a separate entry form for each rider/horse combination entry.

For the first time this year we are able to accept ONLINE ENTRIES via our Entrymaster system accessible on the East Cheshire Branch website –  https://branches.pcuk.org/eastcheshire/2019-fixtures/

I do hope to be able to communicate with all competitors by email and keep them up-dated with event information from time to time, so please try to include a LEGIBLE (to me!) email address. If you don’t have a personal email address, try to arrange to use that of a friend who will pass on news.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE – EQUINE FLU – All responsible equestrians will be aware of the recent measures adopted by various organisations and venues to protect, as far as possible, against the risks of equine flu. Although Pony Club rules currently require vaccination certificates to be up-to-date within the previous twelve month period, Somerford Park, in line with many other venues, are asking at the present time that ALL visiting horses or horses on livery HAVE VACCINATIONS WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. For more information see – https://www.somerfordpark.co.uk/somerford-park-statement-on-equine-flu-13-02-19/Passports/vaccination certificates will be checked on declaration and horses/ponies must NOT be unloaded until they have been approved.

Volunteers – we are always grateful for offers of help toward running the competition on the day – this is especially the case when it comes to finding XC fence judges. If you – or anyone you know, is willing to help in any capacity, please get in touch with our volunteers organiser, Sally Harris (crispinharris1@gmail.com).

Eligibility Queries

PCUK are getting a lot of queries about riders with multiple horses so thought it might help to clear up a few points.

To confirm, subject to the eligibility requirements:

  • A rider is permitted to compete two different horses either at the same level or at different levels
  • A combination is permitted to ride at different levels of different sports
  • A combination is not permitted to ride at different levels of the same sport
  • A rider is permitted to compete in the same team on two different horses – please note that a team must be made up of at least three different riders i.e. teams can be as follows:
    • Four members, four horses
    • Three members, three horses
    • Three members, four horses

Please read the eligibility rules carefully alongside the above as there are some exceptions, i.e. a rider cannot compete at Regional (grassroots) level if they have competed at Novice/PC90 level, and if there are any queries please do contact the office (better to be safe than sorry)! Eligibility rules are in each Sport Rule Book and there is a download at http://www.pcuk.org/index.php/parents_information/rules_of_the_pony_club/
