Anglesey Inter Branch Relay practice

Two sessions have been arranged at Dyfnog on Tuesday 8th and Friday 11th August. Please contact Bethan Edwards if you want to attend.

All Day Rally

Iona is thinking about running an All Day Rally, for all ages & abilities, on Tuesday 29th August. It will be at Plas Dolben.

All members will have the opportunity to flat work, SJ & XC or Games for the younger members. This will give members a chance to have XC schooling before the Hunter Trials & Tetrathlon on 16th/17th September.

Please let Iona know if you are interested so that she can arrange (secretary@fndponyclub.org.uk).

Upcoming Pony Club Pony Racing Days

Following Championship there are two race days remaining, these are:

  • Area 5, Bangor on Dee on 24 September, entries to open in August
  • Area 11, Lingfield Park on 24 October, entries to open in September.

Both will host a taster morning arranged by the Pony Racing Authority to help members find out more about the sport and how to give it a go.

Pony Club Polocrosse Four Nations

All the members were a credit to their respective Branches and Centres and worked incredibly hard during the preceding training camp and over the weekend. They listened to their coaches and managers and exhibited wonderful team work. They also all demonstrated good horsemanship and took excellent care of their ponies and horses during the event. We introduced a new trophy this year; the Field Shield, which was similar to the idea of a stable cup (but we don’t have stables, hence the name). This was judged based on the condition of their horses and their horses pens, their team camp area and how the team were acting during training. The end results were incredibly close, with only 5 points between all four teams but it was won by Team Wales. My thanks go to Louise Shepherd and Pennie Drummond for coming along and being independent judges on two of the days of the training camp.

We did get all the games filmed and are going to get some highlights videos made up in a few weeks time (it will be post championships) so watch this space for those as well.

My thanks goes to everyone who helped make it happen; the sponsors of each team and the overall event, Celyn Polocrosse Club and Cheshire Polo Club for hosting us, the team in the office (particularly of course Zoe who did a huge amount of the organising and making sure we had everything we needed at the event), the team coaches and managers for their work with the teams (both before and during the event) and all the other volunteers who made it happen by carrying out jobs like umpiring, field marshalling and scoring.

In particular I would like to thank Lucinda Hayes from the polocrosse committee, who took on the role of working with Zoe on areas like team kit and organising the camp week and did an amazing job. It is never an easy role with tight timelines between team selection and the event itself, plus we threw new things into the mix like the Field Shield but she took it all on and delivered a great result.

So thank you to everyone and hopefully you are all proud of your members achievements.
