3 Flint & Denbigh Hunt Branch members have been selected to play for Wales at the Polocrosse  4 Nations Competition in July: Izzy & Daisy Stone and Katy Davies. They will bring their Polocrosse sticks for anyone who wants to have a try. Daisy has also been selected for the UK under 16s Team, playing in the USA in August.

2 members have also been selected to represent Wales in the British Dressage Youth Inter Regionals on 1st July: Amber & Summer Bellis.

Please come along and help support your Branch members. It is fantastic to be selected, but this can also be very expensive.

We have 181 members, if each member bought a duck, we could raise £900!

Changes to Area Show Jumping Schedule

The schedule for the Area 5 show jumping qualifiers was published on 12th June, offering Barrier Animal Health Spring Festival Qualifying classes at 80cm & 90cm alongside Area classes. We have since discovered that there will be no SF SJ preliminary rounds this year, instead we are encouraged to run practice/friendly competitions to prepare members for the SF dressage and show jumping Area Qualifiers later in the year.

We have therefore decided not to run classes 2b and 3c as they are not qualifiers. Please be assured that a full refund will be given to all who have entered. The booking fee will also be refunded by ourselves (CHS & WyL) for these classes shortly.

Tetrathlon Opportunities 2023

Tetrathlon Opportunities 2024

Senior International: This is the big one – a true International at 3 different UK venues. Take a look at the attached information and if you are interested get in touch with Richard Mosley. Let Karen know too so she can support your application.

Area 5 Triathlon/Tetrathlon Qualifying Competition June 17/18th

Fifteen Flint & Denbigh Members competed at the Triathlon/Tetrathlon held at Denbigh Leisure centre and Mostyn Farm Ride last weekend. There were Triathlon, Beanie and Tetrathlon classes but only the Open, Intermediate and Junior Tet classes were Qualifiers for the Championships. Entries were generally low, but the weather was perfect, and Flint & Denbigh had a great time but with mixed fortunes!

  • The Junior team of Orla Kissane, Harriet Goodall and Lleucu Newton came 3rd but were the 2nd placed Junior team.
  • Orla came 2nd individually with a top run and has qualified. She was one of only 2 to finish on a full 1400 ride score as the time was tight.
  • Harriet was riding a pony she had borrowed for the day, and was going well but wisely decided at fence 12 to retire as she felt the pony was struggling. Lleucu had a very good round but picked up 50 penalties at the slip rail because she did not drop the rail correctly – it must touch the ground.
  • The Mixed age team of Leah Lamb, Macsen Newton and Casper Kissane came 4th.
  • Leah Lamb WON the Intermediate Ind class with the top shoot and has qualified.
  • Macsen came 2nd in the Mini Boys with a good ride and Casper came 3rd with the top run. Unfortunately, just before the finish he had 3 stops at a fence before taking the L. He was mortified. A lesson for all Tetters there – always walk the L fences too!
  • A young Triathlon team – Alys Evans, Megan Evans, Catrin Morgan and Jessica Hoyle – did really well to come 4th.
  • Catrin was 2nd Individually with a great shoot of 880.
  • Jessica Hoyle won the Mini Girls Tri class (top shoot and top run).
  • An even younger Beanie Biathlon team had some fun – Anni Morgan (top run), Nansi Evans (top bean bags), Harri Morgan and Tomos Bowen.
  • Rowan Hoyle thoroughly enjoyed his first experience of Triathlon.

Inter Branch Relay at Cheshire Show

It was a great privilege to see our members immaculately turned out last Tuesday.

The Flint & Denbigh team were Sophia and Georgia Hogan, Catherine Smith-Edwards and Martha Williams. Ceri Lloyd Williams rode as a guest rider with Cheshire Hunt South to make a mixed team.

All our members were awarded a rosette for their turnout. Ceri’s team were 3rd and Flint & Denbigh were 4th.

Our team were drawn 7th which was a lucky number if you’re superstitious. They rode 3 rounds like true champions, as did Ceri and her teammates. Ceri’s team won overall with Flint & Denbigh a close 2nd.

Great effort from all the members and parents. Thank you all so much.
