Winter League Show Jumping – Results
Well done to everyone who competed at the Berwyn & Dee and Tanatside Winter League Competition at Kelsall on Sunday.
Class 1 WL team all rode a clear round and were placed 3rd, and individual 5th place to Catrin Morgan. Eos and Elliw also rode a clear but no placings. Hopefully a lot gained though.
Class 2 WL were placed 3rd as a team. Individual 1st place to Summer Bellis and 3rd place was awarded to Poppy Miller. They were the fastest overall but finished on 4 faults. So close… We had 10 Flint and Denbigh riders in this class, all rode with determination.
Class 3 WL rode as a team of 3 riders, pressure was on but unfortunately no team placings this time. Well done to you all who rode in this class.
NEW! Pink hat tags for 2023
In order to ensure riders are wearing the most up to date riding hats, please note that from the 1st of January 2023, the following hat standards will no longer be accepted, due to the age of hats made to these standards:
- PAS 015 1998
- SNELL 2001
To manage this change, a new pink hat tag will be required for all Pony Club, BE and British Riding Club activities from 1st January 2023.

Equine Flu Vaccination Update
Boehringer Ingelheim is now getting supplies of the vaccine into the country. Many practices are re-stocked, but levels aren’t quite 100% as yet. However, things improve daily and it shouldn’t be long until normal service resumes.
There have been several confirmed Equine Influenza outbreaks around the country over the last week. They seem largely linked to two horse sales with large gatherings of unvaccinated horses. Celia Marr, Chair of the Equine Infectious Disease Advisory Group (EIDAG) has issued the following advice:
In the last few days there have been several reports of new flu outbreaks. Horse owners should look out for fever or respiratory signs and contact their vet immediately if they are concerned. Owners should be particularly careful when introducing unvaccinated new horses to premises. If you have to do this, speak to your vets about quarantining the new horse and using a flu PCR test to check for silent infection, before mixing a new horse with others. Fortunately, equine flu vaccines are now available so if your horse’s annual booster is due or overdue, you should contact your vets and get its booster up to date as soon as possible.

Many current members compete very successfully at National and International events, including Isle of Man Member and World Championships Gold Medallist Yasmin Ingham and North Norfolk Member Alice Casburn, who achieved her B test this year as well as being placed 4th at Burghley. This discount will encourage Members to keep enjoying all Pony Club activities, the fun and friendships whilst having the opportunity to have a go at affiliated eventing.
