Mounted Games – Area and United Pack Results

It was a long, hot games weekend for the bank holiday: Area on Saturday followed by a 2-day competition in Shrewsbury hosted by United Pack.

Well Done and Thank You to all the members who represented the Flint & Denbigh Branch at the Area 5 Mounted Games Competition on Saturday. You were all well turned out and all rode brilliantly. Both Senior and Junior A’s were 3rd in their sections with Senior B 6th and the Junior Novice 3rd in the Tack & Turnout. The Junior Novice team rode non-competitively as they had some help during the races, but they did really well! Also a big thank you to all the trainers who give up their time to train the teams and accompany them to competitions. Unfortunately no team qualified for Zone, but the Chief Steward will try to get the Senior A team a wildcard entry, as they were only 1 point behind the team in 2nd place.

Most of the riders and trainers went straight on to Shrewsbury for the next competition and set up camp, ready for an early start on Sunday.

  • The Junior Novice team rode really well over the two days, and were almost completely off the lead rein by the final session, where they finished in 3rd place.
  • The Junior team had a runoff to get into the B Final but unfortunately lost and had to wait until the very end of the weekend for their final. They finished in 4th place.
  • The Senior B team also qualified for the C Final, where they had a bit of a struggle with some new races but rode very well, and actually finished the Big Sack race in the final! They finished in 6th place.
  • The Senior A team went into the B Final in 4th place and rode their socks off, getting some really good results. They finished in 2nd place.
