Area Dressage

Congratulations to our intermediate team of Faye Jones, Twm Cernyw and Amber Bellis who won and have qualified for the Championships. Twm Cernyw was also 2nd in the warm up class, and in the intermediate class Twm was 1st individual, Amber Bellis was 4th, and Faye Jones was 5th. In the walk and trot class, Ellie Higginson was 4th, Alys Evans was 8th and Megan Evans 10th. Izzy Grice was 7th in the novice class.

Well done also to all our members who competed and looked extremely well turned out. Thank you to all our volunteers who came to help set up and steward on the day. It was lovely to see past parents and friends who came to help out and make it a very successful day.

Championships accommodation available

Someone from another Pony Club has booked 2 beds & 1 stable for 4 nights (Tues 16, Wed 17, Thurs 18 & Fri 19 Aug). Perfect for eventing classes. It’s the closest (12mins) to the championships site at Offchurch. They no longer need it and would like to now transfer those 2 beds & 1 stable to anyone who needs it.

If anyone is interested in any combination of beds and stable, please contact Harriet Hamilton (hello@harrietclub.com or 07771 70 85 07).

Pony Club Senior Pre Season Camp – Somerford Park April 2023

Cumberland Farmers Hunt South, is planning a pre-season camp aimed at members who are older 17+ (we will drop the age slightly if we don’t fill all 26 spaces.)

The aim is a well rounded camp with top class instructors, with the full use of the fantastic Somerford Park in Cheshire. The Camp is open to all members 17+ from any branch in any area. Cheshire Equine TheraPlate is also attending and will offer sessions at £22. We will have two talks from The Pony Club on tests, training and coach pathways and hopefully from SupaStuds.

This will also count as 2 rallies for any needed rallies for the 2023 Area Teams.

Initial booking is via email. Deposit by 1st October, remaining payment by 1st February 2023.

Dodson & Horrell prizes up for grabs in the Great Pony Club Hacking Challenge

Dodson & Horrell has joined forces with The Pony Club ahead of the summer holidays, supplying prizes for members and branches who are taking part in the Great Pony Club Hacking Challenge.

Launched in 2021, the Great Pony Club Hacking Challenge is an opportunity for all members to venture out of the arena and into the British countryside, tracking distances along the way to hit milestones.

This year Dodson & Horrell has supplied prizes for each of the milestone riders reach, increasing in value as the miles accumulate. Whether riders want to improve their horse or pony’s fitness levels by steadily increasing their hacking miles or simply want to see more of their local bridlepaths and scenery, the prizes start with a £2 feed voucher for 25 miles completed all the way up to a D&H branded jacket for 1,000 miles. Hacking is a great tool to improve confidence, balance and stamina for all riders.

Participants sign up to the challenge on The Pony Club website, track the distances they have ridden and then submit the total, all miles are tallied up and members will receive the relevant Dodson & Horrell prize and certificate from The Pony Club. All existing sign ups to the challenge and any new sign ups in the first fortnight of July will be entered into a prize draw to win a D&H Goody Bag and £25 feed voucher.

“The Great Pony Club Hacking Challenge provides the perfect incentive for riders old and young and what better time to start than for the summer holidays, it’s perfect preparation for Pony Club camp too!” commented Lucy Scott, Marketing Manager at Dodson & Horrell.

Marcus Capel, Chief Executive of The Pony Club responded “I am excited for The Pony Club to be working in partnership with Dodson & Horrell to support and encourage our members to get and about with their horses and ponies. There are some great prizes on offer and I look forward to hearing of the fun and adventures had as the miles are clocked up.”
