Cheshire Shield Horse Trials – Saturday 16th July 2022 at Somerford – Can You Help?

Sally Harris is organising the Volunteers for this year’s Cheshire Shield Horse Trials. It is a very difficult task to find the 80+ volunteers needed to help run the competition, and once again she is asking all Branches within Areas 4 & 5 to help. Some Branches are well represented at the Competition and others only have a handful of competitors, but all Branches, and especially those who enter a Team, are asked to supply a minimum of TWO volunteers each for the day.

Sally needs to contact the volunteers to give them details about their roles, start times, refreshments etc., so please provide the following information:

  1. Branch
  2. Name(s)
  3. Contact Number(s)
  4. Preferred role – see below (although this cannot be guaranteed)

Each role has to be covered for a FULL DAY so any volunteers need to be available for either the full day or an AM/PM slot.  It is too difficult to cover a role around a competitor’s times. Volunteers need to have transport to get to Somerford, and be old enough to help. If you plan to cover a fence for the day using a rota of volunteers, please be aware that the Briefing will start at 8.30am and that vehicles can only be moved on and off the XC course in between classes.

It is very helpful to receive offers to help as soon as possible, but all volunteer information needs to be provided by Wednesday 6th July which is the date teams need to be confirmed.

If you need any further information about volunteering at the competition please call or email Sally (crispinharris1@gmail.com or 07775 882632).

Roles:

  • Fence Judges – 2 adults per fence – Briefing 8.30am
  • XC Stewards – AM to attend Briefing PM to shadow before taking over
  • XC Tack Checks – AM to attend Briefing PM to shadow before taking cover
  • Dressage Stewards – AM slot is an early start
  • Dressage Writers – first test usually 8am 6 x  arenas which usually start at different times
  • Dressage Tack Check  – AM slot is an early start
