DC’s Camp Report

The annual summer camp was held at Wern Farm, Mostyn. Four perfect, sunny, fun days at an amazing location. 36 members attended and had a great time with excellent coaches. Members developed their flat work, show jumping and cross country riding.

Nigel Cox assisted by Wil and Toby, gave a very informative talk on the kit he used when he hunted and the importance of how to be well turned out. He also brought along  2 1/2 couples of the Flint and Denbigh hounds by kind permission of the Masters of the hunt and Huntsman, Robert Medcalf.

The members had a very interesting session on horse racing and were able to have a go on the mechanical horses.

On the last day, members were able to go on the farm ride in the morning and demonstrated their drill ride, which was judged by Meg Green and Geoff Monk.

Ann Jones supplied a tasty lunch for the members and instructors every day.

I would like to thank Geoff Monk and Monk Farms for allowing us to hold our camp at Wern Farm.

Championships

Good luck to both senior games teams and the pairs, the novice dressage team and to tetrathlete, Leah Lamb, at the pony club championships being held later this month at Offchurch, Bury, Warwickshire.

Good luck also to the grass roots show jumping team at the regional championships being held at Eland Lodge.
