The first Winter League Show Jumping Competition of the season was held at Celt n Gael on Saturday 16th September 2017 and run by Anglesey and Aberconwy PC Branches. It was good to see regular and some new F&D members taking part in their first WL.

  • In Class 2 (60cm): Harry Wheway riding the speedy Wilma nipped into 2nd place, and hot on his heels was Eban Davies & Ben who came 3rd.
  • Class 3 (10yrs & U): Unfortunately only Harry & Lili  from F&D had entered, so they were put into a mixed team. Harry did a fantastic double clear to get placed individually, Lili had a couple of poles down, but is developing and learning all the time….so watch this space the clear rounds will soon come! The mixed team of F&D & Dwyfor came 5th.
  • Class 4 (Pairs): Very successful class for F&D – Eban plus 1 won this class, Orphelia & Hattie were very speedy but just had a fence down to come a close 2nd, and Eban (with his 2nd ride ‘Ben’) & Harry were also placed.
  • Class 5 (13yrs & U): The F&D team which consisted of Georgie, Eban, Hattie & Scarlett – going into the 2nd round the team were on 0. Georgie rode a lovely double clear, but unfortunately luck wasn’t on our side and the team occurred a few faults to finish 5th out of nine teams.
  • Class 6 (Intermediate); Orlagh Toner & Emily Vaarkarp were the only two F&D members taking part in this class, the first round proved tricky for all, with poles flying and faults occurring everywhere. However the 2nd round was much better, with riders demonstrating some lovely clear rounds.
  • Class 7 (Dengie Debute): Eban and his pony Jac stayed on to compete in this class, hope they have managed to qualify, if not there is always next time.

It was a very long, but fun day, with all team members supporting and encouraging each other….we do need more F&D members to join in,  so that we can make up full teams, as league points are lost if we don’t have F&D Teams in WL classes. If you fancy having a go, please get in touch with Bethan Edwards and get your entries in…..it’s a FAB competition and really helps to bring your riding and jumping skills on over the winter. Hope to see more of you out and about representing the F&DPC at WL SJ’ing.

The next WL SJ’ing is on Sunday 1st Oct at Somerford,  followed by Sunday 15th October at Bryn Derw!
