Winter League Show Jumping Results – Anglesey and Aberconwy

The first Winter League Show Jumping Competition of the season was held at Celt n Gael on Saturday 16th September 2017 and run by Anglesey and Aberconwy PC Branches. It was good to see regular and some new Flint & Denbigh members taking part in their first Winter League competition. Photos can be found here: //fndponyclub.org.uk/winter-league-anlesey-and-aberconwy-2017/

  • In Class 2 (60cm): Harry Wheway riding the speedy Wilma nipped into 2nd place, and hot on his heels was Eben Davies & Ben who came 3rd.
  • Class 3 (10yrs & Under): Unfortunately only Harry & Lili from Flint & Denbigh had entered, so they were put into a mixed team. Harry did a fantastic double clear to get placed individually, Lili had a couple of poles down, but is developing and learning all the time…so watch this space – the clear rounds will soon come! The mixed team of Flint & Denbigh and Dwyfor came 5th.
  • Class 4 (Pairs): Very successful class for Flint & Denbigh – Eben plus 1 won this class, Ophelia & Hattie were very speedy but just had a fence down to come a close 2nd, and Eben (with his 2nd ride Ben) & Harry were also placed.
  • Class 5 (13yrs & Under): The Flint & Denbigh team which consisted of Georgie, Eben, Hattie & Scarlett – going into the 2nd round the team were on zero. Georgie rode a lovely double clear, but unfortunately luck wasn’t on our side and the team had a few faults to finish 5th out of nine teams.
  • Class 6 (Intermediate); Orlagh Toner & Emily Vaarkarp were the only two Flint & Denbigh members taking part in this class. The first round proved tricky for all, with poles flying and faults occurring everywhere. However the 2nd round was much better, with riders demonstrating some lovely clear rounds.
  • Class 7 (Dengie Debute): Eben and his pony Jac stayed on to compete in this class. Hope they have managed to qualify, if not there is always next time.

It was a very long, but fun day, with all team members supporting and encouraging each other. We do need more Flint & Denbigh members to join in so that we can make up full teams, as league points are lost if we don’t have teams. If you fancy having a go, please get in touch with Bethan Edwards and get your entries in – it’s a fab competition and really helps to bring your riding and jumping skills on over the winter.

The next Winter League Show Jumping is on Sunday 1st October at Somerford, followed by Sunday 15th October at Bryn Derw.
