Mounted Games Results – Flint & Denbigh Friendly

Thank you to every one who helped at the Flint & Denbigh Games competition last Sunday. We had a really good day. A big thank you also to the Competitors and to all the supporters. Good Luck to the members competing at the Area 5 Competition next Sunday in Stockley Farm Park. Hope all goes well. Iona.

Unfortunately Flint & Denbigh had some bad news the night before the competition when Isabella Stone injured herself, meaning 3 members would not be riding so the teams had to be shuffled around. While the senior team – one rider down – of Twm Cernyw, Gwenan Roberts, Ellie Richardson and Alex Owen – were competing and finished in 2nd place overall, one of the junior team fell in the practice arena and had to go to A&E. So the junior teams had to be shuffled again!

The newly formed A team of Cari Jones, Isabelle Edghill, Leia Lloyd Williams and Nansi Edwards did well under the difficult circumstances of not having ridden or practiced together before. They finished in 3rd place. The new B team of Ceri Lloyd Williams, Elis Jones, Emma Fairbrother and Scarlett Fennel finished in 4th place; and the mixed novice team which included Erin Wood and Llinos Fairbrother finished in 5th place, as they had a few riders on the lead rein.

Well done to all our riders who did well in difficult circumstances, especially the novices who found themselves in a much different situation than they expected! We’re sad to say that our two injured members (Isabella Stone and Abbie Richardson) will not be able to ride at Area this weekend, but hopefully they’ll be able to come along to support the teams.

Welsh Rider Magazine Article: Polocrosse Success

Please find attached copy of article in welsh rider which Katie  and Jac feature in representing Flint and Denbigh (copied below):

Welsh Rider article

Flint & Denbigh Pony Club members Katie Davies and Jac Evans headed south in March to take part in the Arden Polocrosse Arena tournament, held at the prestigious Dallas Burston Polo Club on their ‘SuperArena’. Katie and Jac have both been playing polocrosse for a few years, having been introduced to the sport through their Pony Club. They are both members of the UK Polocrosse Association, and are lucky enough to be coached by the UK Chief Coach, Tom Simkin.

Katie and Jac had a successful day at the Dallas Burston event, with both of them winning several ‘Star Play’ points as well as ‘Best Number’ points too. They are now looking forward to the next arena event, before the game moves on to grass in early May and the main playing season begins.

It will be a busy summer for them on the pitch. Katie and her pony, Coke, have been selected to represent Wales in the upcoming Pony Club Polocrosse Home International, to be held in July this year. Both Katie and Jac will also be aiming towards competing at the Pony Club Championships in August, representing Flint & Denbigh as well as Area 5, also taking part in UKPA events playing for their local club, Celyn.
