My First Proper One Day Event

DSC_0421I woke up very early on Saturday morning. I had my breakfast then helped mummy get Fudge ready for the day. Daddy got the trailer ready, made the picnic and loaded everything in the Shogun. Off we went at 7.30am, it was a long way to Smallwood. On the way we saw lightning, heard thunder and it was pouring with rain. When we got there we walked the show jumping course and then had time to walk the cross country course before my dressage started.

It was then time for my dressage test, so we got Fudge ready and then I rode Fudge over to the warm up area. I had my tack checked and warmed Fudge up. Then it was my time to go in, the test went well and I was so pleased with Fudge.

At 11.22am the show jumping started, it was raining when we went in but Fudge and I did a lovely clear round.

We then went back to the trailer, sorted Fudge out and had some lunch.

After lunch I got changed into my Flint & Denbigh Pony Club cross country colours and warmed Fudge up ready for the cross country that started at 12.32. At the start I had butterflies in my tummy but we set off well, Fudge did a lovely jump over fence one and we were on our way. We also did nice jumps over fences 2, 3, 4 and then cantered through the Quarry which was fantastic, unfortunately we had a couple of problems after that. Fudge jumped brilliantly and came home really fast, she was amazing. We went back to the trailer, untacked and sponged Fudge down and finished off our picnic. I didn’t think we had got placed, but then found out that we had come 5th in the dressage out of 19 competitors in Class 1B, so came home with a lovely pink rosette. It was a very good day and Fudge was awesome.
