3 Rally Rule Reminder

Can you please remind all members that they need to have attended 3 Working Rallies, NOT Training or SJ/Dressage, to be in Area Teams to represent their Branch. If any Trainers are unsure please ask for the dates of rallies, where and when.

Competition Badges

The Pony Club Competition Badge range has been designed to highlight the important issues in each of the nine competitive disciplines and encourage good training of horses and ponies. The Pony Club disciplines are:

  • Dressage
  • Eventing
  • Show Jumping
  • Mounted Games
  • Polo
  • Polocrosse
  • Pony Racing
  • Tetrathlon
  • Endurance Riding

The badges are based on The Pony Club Achievement and Mini Achievement Badge ranges, which mainly cover horse and pony care or non-equine related subjects. We hope that the Competition badges will complete the set of badges and provide riders with fun opportunities to improve their riding or learn new skills in a discipline they haven’t tried before.

There are two levels of badge for each Discipline:

  • “Intro to [discipline] badge” – for younger or less experienced Members who are just starting out in the discipline. This badge will help you understand the basics to help you get ready to compete.
  • “[Discipline] badge” – for slightly older or more experienced Members who are ready to or have already started to compete in the discipline. It will help you to understand the rules of the discipline and what is expected of the horse and rider in order to be successful in a competition.

Both levels of the Competition Badges can be worked on, practised for and tested during rallies, camps or lessons. All the Information can be found on the Pony Club website (http://www.pcuk.org/uploads/syllabus_booklet.pdf)

Any members who are interested in starting to work towards any of these Badges, please let Iona know (garethion@hotmail,com).

Mounted Games Friendly, United Pack – Results

The last of our 2-day Mounted Games friendly competitions took place this weekend, at the fantastic venue of Netley Hall. It was a bit of a squeeze with all the showjumpers too, but thankfully much drier than last year.

The Senior team of Lois Williams, Joe Owen, Charlotte Williams, Alex Major and Alys Williams scored 37 points out of a maximum of 49 in both sessions on the first day. They finished the first day in 6th place. Unfortunately they did slightly worse in the last session of heats, and two teams behind them had a great session and overtook them, so they finished in 8th place, putting them in the B final. The final didn’t go well either and they finished in 5th place.

The heats did not go well for the Junior team of Gwenan Roberts, Alex Owen, Katie Davies and Twm Cernyw, who finished in 16th position, putting them in the C final. Three races into the C final and they were well in the lead, then disaster struck in the quoit race and we thought their luck was over. But they pulled it back, dropping only 6 points from a maximum of 35, and WINNING  the C final! We’d had tears and unhappy riders at times over the weekend, but they all left very happy.

Heledd Roberts also rode with the Waen y Llyn senior team, who finished 5th in the C final; and Rhys Cernyw rode with the Tanatside B team who finished 3rd in the C final. They both rode really well and were very appreciated by our neighbouring clubs.
