Pony Racing Buzz Day – 16th April

Apologies for the quality of the flyer: this is the best I could make it. The Buzz ‘day’ takes place the morning of the Pony Racing, starting at 11am. It is free, and a great chance to learn a bit more about racing. You can try tacking up a pony with racing tack, and there are jockey coaches and ex-jockeys helping on the equicisors.

Aberconwy Easter Dressage, Bryn Derw – 21st April

Open to Seniors and Juniors in a relaxed atmosphere. Rosettes and Easter eggs in all classes.

Entries close 18th April. £10 per class.

Working Rally – Sunday 13th April

Mounted Games Results

17 members of Flint & Denbigh trekked over to a field on the Somerford Park estate on Sunday 6th April for the East Cheshire Mounted Games friendly, the first outdoor competition of the season.

The Senior team of Alys Williams, Alex Major, Joe Owen, Eden Greaves and Sophie Greaves did great in the heats, qualifying for all but one final. Unfortunately they didn’t do so well in the finals, so only managed 6th place overall.

For the Senior Novice team of Heledd Roberts, Jac Cernyw, Rhys Cernyw, Lisa Jones and Steph Parsley, it was the first senior competition for the latter three, and the first ever competition for Lisa and Steph. Lisa’s pony bucked and Steph’s pony reared, but they all got through the competition; finishing in 12th place. Hopefully they’ll still be keen to come back for more!

The Junior A team of Louise Owen, Alex Owen, Ellie Richardson and Twm Cernyw enjoyed their day. The ponies were definitely having fun and making life a bit difficult for their riders, but they made it through to the final of the Tyre Race. Gwenan Roberts and Katie Davies made up a Junior B team with two members of Waen y Llyn PC, one of whom had not competed before. Having only met them minutes before the competition, they did really well.

And special mention to Lottie Williams, who was the fourth member of the Waen Y Llyn Senior Novice team. They won the Senior Novice competition, and would not have been there without Lottie. Helen Lakin (WYL trainer) was very appreciative, as I’m sure the team were.
