Success at the Mounted Games Trials for Welsh Team …

800IMG_1627… competing at Royal Windsor Horse Show, 8th-12th May
It was a cold day in Caerhowel near Welshpool, but we were very happy not to have to travel all the way to Builth Wells for Becky Sedcole, Sam Owen, Alex Major and Alys Williams to try out for a place in the Welsh team. There were 28 riders in total, running 10 races a number of times to test their speed, agility, brakes, and vaulting. The overall standard was very high and all four F&D members rode well, made few mistakes, and stayed calm throughout.

But Becky rode exceptionally well throughout the trial, and it wasn’t just us who noticed! Her number was called out, quickly followed by a loud cheer from the crowd.

Congratulations to Becky for being selected, and we look forward to seeing her represent Wales at Windsor.

Thanks … Fran

Code of Conduct

Could I please ask ALL parents and members to read the attached Area 5 – Respect Code of Conduct – Notice format – May 2011.
Following concerns expressed by a number of branches relating to the behaviour of a small number of individuals at some inter-branch events, it was decided that the Area should formulate a good-behaviour policy which would apply to all persons attending any Pony Club organised event. This code was unanimously adopted at the Area 5 District Commissioner’s meeting on the 23rd May 2011.

Please check your Tack

Does your saddle fit correctly or is it sitting a bit low on the withers? Now is the time to check your tack BEFORE you go to a competition and find that you are not allowed to compete as your tack does not fit or is unsafe to use. Several saddles checked at recent rallies were found to not be a very good fit, along with small stirrup irons and poor stitching on the stirrup leathers.
