Flint and Denbigh Pony Club Halloween Pony Party this year took place at Ystrad on Wednesday 31st October, the damp weather didn’t put out the spirits of the fifteen children who took part. On our arrival Sian & Fran had already been busy and had turned the indoor all Halloweeny, decorating it with lots of spooky characters and props ready for the Horrid Handy Pony Challenge.

Fran was awesome, embroiling herself into the spirit of the games by creating imaginative spooky games and handy pony challenges, the kids had a fantastic time and their riding came on a treat as they negotiated the obstacles.
Over lunch everybody got together and enjoyed the Halloween grub, giving the opportunity for kids and parents to socialise before Bethan judged the ‘Best Pumpkin’ and ‘Best Fancy Dress’.

Everybody had put a great deal of effort into their pumpkin designs and fancy dress, making it a very difficult job for Bethan … the prize for the Best Pumpkin (Traditional) went to Scarlett Owen and Huw Foulkes won the Best Fancy Dress as a Scary Combat Skeleton.

The Halloweeners were then put into four teams and an adult was encouraged to join each team, Bethan took up the challenge and joined the ‘Young Dracula’s.

The first game was pumpkin bowling. This was very competitive with some excellent bowling taking place, especially from Nana Young.  The ‘Spooky Cat Witches’ won by a witches cat whisker with 32pts, closely followed by the ‘Young Dracula’s’ on 28pts, in 3rd place was ‘Spooky Pumpkins’ on 27pts and 4th was ‘Creepy Ghosts’ on 23pts . I would like to thank Alwyn & Ceri for donating their pumpkins for our games.

The pumpkin bowling was followed by the pumpkin sweep, mummy wrap, apple bobbing, broom relay, stuck in the mud and finally Halloween balloon pop before we headed outside to complete the Spooky Scavenger Hunt & Quiz. When the teams arrived back they made a woodland skeleton from the bits & bobs they had collected … all team members worked together to create imaginative skeleton creature and the ‘Young Dracula’s’ scored maximum points in the quiz.

A brilliant time was had by all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Brookes, Bethan and Fran for their support and contribution towards the success of today and also to all our members and their parents who took part and helped out, making the day such a fantastic experience for everyone.

Thanks … Laura
