DC’s Report

Summer holidays are now over and members are back to school after a very busy summer holiday season.

The Flint and Denbigh Hunt Branch Pony Club has had a fantastic year. Numerous teams and individuals qualified for the National and Novice Championships. All this success is due to the hard work put in by members, parents and team trainers throughout the year.

Please remember that it is a Pony Club rule that each member and horse must complete three rallies. If you intend to try for a place on any area team, or compete individually next year, you must comply with this rule.

It is an honour to represent your branch at the championships and this year a couple of teams were let down by a member pulling out at the last minute for no apparent reason. This gave no chance to anyone else to step in. These members missed the point of good sportsmanship and team comradeship. When putting your name forward next year please ensure that if you are chosen, you make a commitment to ride in a team.

Flint & Denbigh Branch members have also been chose to represent the UK – Sam Ecroyd, Laura Cocking & Olivia Miller.

Megan Siglan Roberts and Antonia Woodbine were successful at The Burghley Event Pony Competition at this prestigious venue. If you would like to be considered for this competition next year, please send me a c.v. of what you have done within the branch during the last 12 months. eg camp, team or individual competitions.

Suzie Williams, Anya Dreiling and Eleri Jones were selected for Games teams to represent Wales.

Record numbers of members attended our summer camps. Mini camp is getting very popular and parents are needed to take on the responsibility of running it – catering, supervising pony lines etc. It is suggested that we hold a separate enrolment evening next summer to inform parents as to duties that need to be done. Some of the parents enjoy watching but are reluctant to take on duties.

Iona’s idea to have a fundraising competition on the last afternoon of main camp was most successful. The members raised over £800, enabling the branch to send a cheque of £500 to the AHT. Members were very imaginative in their fund raising and everyone enjoyed the afternoon of entertainment.

Numerous members have attained tests from E test to AH test. Various badges have been awarded. This is a brilliant way of gaining knowledge towards the tests.

Committee members are extremely busy organising all the fixtures, rallies, fun days, competitions etc. So do please support them. We are a very busy successful Branch and this is all down to the hard work put in by our volunteers. Thank you.

The Pony Club is a Voluntary Organisation run by Volunteers

At a recent Committee Meeting it was requested that I remind all parents again that we are a Voluntary Organisation and do not get paid for any of our time etc.

Some parents can be quite inconsiderate and rude to Event and Competition organisers and also Trainers. (These are usually the parents who do not put them selves forward to help in any way.) We are all trying our best for ALL of the members and for the Flint and Denbigh Branch as a whole.

If we did get paid for all the hours we put in we would all be sailing off into the sunshine on a cruise for the Winter!!!

Message from the Webmaster

Dear All
Apologies for the disruption over the past few days with the website being down. We are reassured by our technicians that is being worked on with the highest priority.
The disruption also impacts on the placing of new stories and the updating of older stories.

Many thanks … Fred Dreiling

Last call for entries for the East Cheshire winter league showjumping competition. I need your cheques in by Friday 23rd September at the very latest so that I can organise teams and get everything off to the branch before their closing date.
