Dress Code for Pony Club

At the Area 5 DC’s meeting recently, many Branches expressed their concern about the standard of turnout at Rallies & Competitions, especially coloured hats and saddlecloths. Could we please ask ALL parents and members to read the Rule Books BEFORE buying a new hat or item of tack to make sure it is suitable for Pony Club activities. All the Information can be found on the Pony Club website at www.pcuk.org under Disciplines and Rules.

See below a couple of the Rules taken from the Rule Book.

Hats, with a cover, must be worn when mounted (this includes at prize-giving) with a chinstrap fastened at all times. For Dressage, Show Jumping and Mounted Games the cover shall be dark blue or black only. Hats with vertical plastic / metallic strips are permitted. The Official Steward/Organiser may, at his discretion, eliminate a competitor riding in the area of the competition without a hat or with the chinstrap unfastened or with a hat that does not comply with these standards.

Saddle Cloths – Plain saddle cloths, including ‘Polypads’ in black, brown, white, cream or dark blue. Saddle cloths in Branch colours with appropriate Branch logos are allowed when competing for the Branch. Logos must not exceed 200 sq. cms.

For those interested in learning more about endurance, the Cheshire branch of Endurance GB are running a comprehensive training day on 13th March 2011.  Learn about preparing yourself and your horse ( feeding and fitness) for endurance riding, entering a ride, ride procedures, vet gates, ride finish and completion awards.

Good value at £10 including lunch. Details via this link: //www.endurancegbcheshire.co.uk/social%20events.html.

It is also worth checking out Cheshire Group’s ride schedule  –  the organisers will be running Pony Club classes at their competitive events. These will count for points for the Pony Club endurance championship. If anyone would like me to send them a mastercard for recording points/ride mileage please get in touch –  I have a small supply.
