Seniors …
What a start to the friendly Mounted Games season!
With an early start of 4.30am and in the vehicles by 5.30am and everyone questioning why do we do this, the answer was just 6 hours down the road. Arrived with perfect timing for tack check at 8.30 with the competition due to start at 9.30am. The Senior A team of Jess Butler, Anya Dreiling, Sam Owen, Wednesday Rytter and Suzi Williams were riding together for the first time.
The competition was split into seven qualifying races for the Finals A, B and C! Race after race F&D were winning their races. No mistakes resulted them winning the heats and securing their place in the A Final.
The A final was last to be run and perhaps it was the occasion but they got off to a dodgy start with more mistakes in the first race of the final than in the whole of the preliminaries. Settling down they began to claw their way back up the leader board. It all hung on the last race which they had to win and the eventual winners Cambridge, had to finish 4th. We won the final race but were beaten (by only 2 points) by Cambridge.
Did it matter. We were a very commendable second.
Juniors …
A long journey ended at the Solihull Riding Centre, where the newly formed Junior team began the season.
The team comprised of Sophie Greaves, Charlotte Williams, Eden Greaves, Megan Woodcock and Joe Owen. The team worked hard in the heats narrowly missing the A final.
After more hard work they finished in 2nd place in the B final. The team were rightly pleased with themselves and the day ended in smiles.
Well done to you all!
