Flint and Denbigh Pony Club Halloween Pony Party this year took place at Ystrad on Wednesday 31st October, the damp weather didn’t put out the spirits of the fifteen children who took part. On our arrival Sian & Fran had already been busy and had turned the indoor all Halloweeny, decorating it with lots of spooky characters and props ready for the Horrid Handy Pony Challenge
Another great memorable day was had at Gwysaney Hall which all the children thoroughly enjoyed, the day started with mounted games and polo cross training and after our picnic lunch the riders were split into two groups, with the leadreins and novice riders following Sophie on her lovely grey horse around the estate, some of the braver ones in this group jumped a couple of cross country fences in the woods and also had the opportunity to canter across open park land. The members who were up for a more challenging and faster route went with Sarah, where they had plenty of opportunities to practice their cross counrty skills. A fabulous day was had by all and a big thank you goes to Sarah and her family for providing the children with a fantastic opportunity which I am sure they will remember for ever.
Once again we all had a fabulous day out at Plas Dolben, the scenery on the mountain ride was breath taking and the brave parents who followed on foot certainly felt a bit fitter after the walk. An Easter egg hunt around the cross country course follow our picnic lunch and then back on our ponies in the afternoon to enjoy some more fun, which included a country law mounted quiz, handy pony and mounted games. Great fun was had by all and we would like to say a big thank you to Iona for organising such a lovely day for the children
Once again we were fortunate to have good weather for our trek up to Llyn Parc through the Gwydia Forest, we set off in one group with the older children leading the way, once we arrived at Llyn Parc the sun came out and the ponies had a splash about in the lake before we tucked into our picnics, after lunch the children mounted up and had a final paddle in the lake before heading back along the forestry tracks to the car park.
