Mountain Ride and Fun Day at Plas Dolben

Lovely day at Plas Dolben on 15th October 2017, starting off with a ride over the mountains in some fabulous October weather and equally fab views over the Vale of Clwyd, followed by lunch back at Plas Dolben. Then an afternoon of a treasure hunt, handy pony with Iona, and Games with Fran. Thanks to Iona and her family for putting on this great event for the kids and their ponies and Fran for keeping them all under control in the games. Thanks to Peter and Laura Owen for the photos: //fndponyclub.org.uk/fun-pony-day-at-plas-dolben/

Winter League Show Jumping

Thank you to the members who attended Gwynedd Pony Club’s Winter League Show Jumping at Bryn Derw on Sunday. Hattie and Emma rode really well in Class 1 and I hope Emma enjoyed her first Winter League competition. Class 2 Winter League team members were Poppy, Faye, Ophelia and Georgina who rode incredibly well with only being allowed to jump two jumps before their rounds. They finished 2nd place gaining 5 points for the league table and Georgina was placed individual 6th. There was only Emily entered in Class 3 and she gained 3rd place individually as there wasn’t enough for a team. Georgie just missed out in the Dengie Qualifier being placed 6th. It was a long day but successful.

Next competition is held at Southview on November 12th – entries now being taken. Please send your entries to Bethan Edwards, 29 Stryd y Brython, Ruthin, Denbighshire, LL15 1JA.

Pony Racing Training Days

These training days are open to experienced and non-experienced Members and they will be put in appropriate groups. The age limit for racing is 9-15 years on 1st January 2017. The day will start at 9.30am and there will be sessions with a jockey coach, a fitness expert and then on the pony; a session in the school followed by going up the gallops. Members and their pony will be assessed as to their ability, confidence and competence and at the end of the day will be informed by the Assessor as to whether they have passed. If this is the case then they will be able to use this qualification to enter a Pony Club Race Day and be eligible to take part in Pony Racing Authority (PRA) races. The cost of the day is £30.00.
