Hunting Exchange 2017

We have received details of the next Hunting Exchange which will be hosted by the Irish Pony Club. Please can you forward this round to your DC’s.

The Irish Pony Club has kindly extended an invitation to host the International Hunting Exchange to begin on Friday 17th February 2017 and end on Monday 27th February 2017. The hunting exchange rotates seasonally between the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and the United States.

Four Pony Club Members aged 18-25 will be selected and be accompanied by one chaperone. Applicants must hold their ‘B’ Test or higher, and it is advised to have strong hunting experience, ambassadorial qualities and a record of active Pony Club participation.

Hunting will be in different areas across the country, with a variety of hunts.  It is hoped that members and chaperones will stay with Pony Club host families or hunt members, have meals with them, and be transported to hunt meets with them.  Horses borrowed for hunting will have been hunted regularly by members of the Pony Club or the local Hunt and will mostly be privately owned. In addition to hunting, there will be planned trips for sightseeing and shopping, kennel tours and many opportunities to socialise.

The exchange is to be self funded and details of cost will be available on the website shortly. The cost will cover flights, insurance and a land fee (transport around venues, caps etc.).

To apply please send the following to the Pony Club office:

  • Application form
  • Letter of recommendation from your DC/Centre Proprietor
  • Letter of recommendation from your local Hunt Master
  • Passport sized photo

All applications must be signed by the DC/Centre Proprietor.

The closing date for applications is 31st October 2017, with selection interviews taking place end of November/beginning of December.

Chaperones

If you would like to apply to be a chaperone please fill in the application form below and return it to the Pony Club office along with a letter of recommendation from your local Hunt Master. Chaperones should be knowledgeable about hunting and the Pony Club; the chaperone should NOT be a family member or a regular instructor of any team member. Chaperones must be 30years of age or older.

Application forms for both Members and Chaperones are available on the Hunting Exchange page of the Pony Club website or by emailing Kirsty (events@pcuk.org).

Many thanks
