Celyn Polcrosse Club Training Day and Camp

Celyn Polocrosse Club are running a day of polocrosse training at the Bow House Equestrian arena, on Sunday 20th March, open to all Pony Club members no matter what your age or ability. So come along and give this exciting sport a try! Players will be grouped by experience.

Celyn Polocrosse Club is hosting a training weekend at their Backford field grounds (near Chester and Cheshire Oaks) over the May Bank Holiday weekend (30th April – 2nd May). The event is open to all UKPA and Pony Club members of all levels and ages, from complete beginner to the more expert. Our team of UKCC coaches is led by Tom Simkin, UKPA Chief Coach.

Barlow Hunt Triathlon

Please find attached the schedule for the Barlow Tetrathlon & Triathlon on 2nd/3rd April. Barlow are running a Hunter Trials at Osberton alongside the tetrathlon so tetrathletes can enter a hunter trial class as well, provided no horse/pony is doing more than two rounds. This can be the same course as for the tetrathlon class or a different course – ideal for those moving up a level this year.

Entries for the hunter trials can be done online at www.equoevents.com. Tetrathlon entries via team managers only, as usual.

The XC courses will be suitable early season courses and, if numbers allow, they will run a separate WH type course in a ring for the mini-mini tetrathletes with a max height of 60cm and the opportunity to lead members round if required.

For those travelling from further afield they can probably organise local stabling for the Saturday night if that helps – please get in touch asap if you would like to do this. It will be at a local EC where there is parking for lorries and a pub just up the road for supper if needed!

Any queries please get in touch with either Pippa Patrick (07930 910984) or Vicky Dubik (07793 055989).

Pony Racing Day

During the February half term five members of the Flint & Denbigh Pony Club attended a training and assessment day at Aintree Racecourse, arranged by the Pony Racing Authority. The members were Dylan Griffiths, Constance and Elsa Braunton, and Rhys and Twm Cernyw. The morning session consisted of fitness, balance exercises and being taught how to ride in the jockey position. All five were deemed fit to go out onto the gallops at Aintree and thoroughly enjoyed galloping around the racecourse. All five have passed their main Pony Club Achievement Badge and have been deemed fit to compete in pony racing.
