It was embarrassing last week to apologise for the third consecutive week for the non-appearance of the Newsletter for so many subscribers.

Eventually we tracked the problem down to Microsoft blacklisting our server which resulted in any emails that were sent from F&D to any Microsoft derived email addresses (live, outlook, Hotmail, msn etc) being bounced back to us.

Digging deeper, it would appear that Microsoft monitors email delivered to its account holders and how those account holders treat emails. For example, if everyone reads the email there is unlikely to be a repeat of the server email outage. On the other hand, if the Weekly Newsletter is by default in Spam or Clutter folders and they are not read, or indeed just immediately deleted, then we can expect repeat issues.

So what proactive steps can we take?

  1. If your Weekly News is dropping into your Spam folder (and you want to keep receiving it), then please set a rule that it is not Junk.
  2. If you no longer wish to receive the email, then please unsubscribe.
  3. For those that decide to unsubscribe, the Weekly is printed in Full on the website every Tuesday and further, if you have Liked our Facebook page, then you should see in your News Feed a reminder that the Weekly has been published on the website!

Mounted Games Competition Report

Well done to the Flint & Denbigh Mounted Games teams who went to Solihull to compete this weekend. The Senior A team of Sophie and Eden Greaves, Lois Williams and Heledd Roberts were in a run off for the A final which unfortunately did not quite go to plan! They finished a creditable 2nd in the B final. The very young Senior B team of Gwenan Roberts, Alex Owen, Katie Davies, and Ellie Richardson had a lovely steady competition to come 4th. The even younger Junior team of Will Stone, Isabella Stone, Isabelle Edgehill, Abby Richardson and Daisy Stone rode very well to WIN their final! Congratulations to all and hopefully you have all recovered from the long day!

Do you want to be a Likit Roving Reporter?

PCUK’s Likit Open Eventing League is fast approaching and they are looking for a team of ‘Roving Reporters’ to produce a report at each event, capture the action with good quality photos and interview the winners.

This is a fantastic opportunity for budding journalists to enhance their CVs and have their articles broadcast on social media channels. In addition, the writer of the best report will be invited to the Likit Open Eventing League presentation day where they will be given a Likit saddlecloth.

Roving Reporter applications will open as dates for competitions are announced, and will close two weeks prior to the event. Dates will announced on PCUK’s Facebook page and on website.

Members wishing to apply for a place on the Roving Reporters team should email sponsorship@pcuk.org with the following information:

  • 200 words stating why they (and their friend should they wish to partner up) would make good reporters
  • Which Likit Open Eventing League competition(s) they would like to cover

Once selected, the Roving Reporters will be provided with their very own ‘Journalist Pack’ which will be packed full of useful information to help them on the day and with writing their report.

Important information:

  • Members will need to make their own way to the Event
  • Members to provide their own camera
  • Members to provide their own lunch
  • Members to wear their own Pony Club polo shirt, jumper or jacket with smart jeans
  • All selected Roving Reporters to send back their reports 7 days after the event
  • Only one per entry per member
  • Applications will close 2 weeks prior to the Event taking place
