Hunting Certificate

The hunting season is drawing to a close so we are looking to complete the hunting certificate in half term.

It has been drawn to our attention that many of you have not been as committed to hunting as we would have liked. We totally understand there are so many other commitments with school and pony club making it difficult to fulfil the required days out hunting. We did mention to you all at the hunting talk, it is much easier to get as many days in early season before school commitments set in.

We would like to put your days taken with us this season, towards your total for next season and hope that you are able to complete the certificate then. If you wish for this to happen please contact either Louise Shepherd, Sarah Davies Cooke or Lucy Reed and we will look forward to seeing you and helping you gain your certificate next season.

Pony Racing Day

Pony Racing is not just about going as fast as you can. It is all about riding forward with a balanced seat – something you need for ALL equestrian disciplines, and learning rhythm and pace.

Fancy coming and having a go? Then this is the place to start. Area 4 are running a Pony Club Race Day on Sunday, 10th May at Haydock Park Racecourse (just off junction 23 of the M6).

Races are for all levels, 128cm 138cm and 148cm ponies aged 5 – 20yrs and Members must be aged 9 -15yrs. The schedule will be available very soon via The Pony Club website. You don’t need specialist racing tack or colours: you can wear your normal riding GP saddle and your XC colours.

We will be holding a BUZZ morning before racing starts.  Here you can come on your feet, learn to ride an Equicisor with a Jockey Coach, do a bit of balance and fitness, see how to tack up with racing gear and how to adapt your GP tack.

Unfortunately, if we do not receive enough entries to make this day worthwhile then this will be the last Pony Club Race Day in the North West. So please come a long and have a go: there is a race for everyone.

If you would like further information or just a chat about pony racing then get in touch with Ruth Hurley (ruthhurley80@yahoo.co.uk or 07837 269 662).
