Please ignore requests for Area Show Jumping from last week: Chris Leahy’s email has gone a bit haywire and is re-sending emails from 6 months ago! So if you’ve received anything from her that doesn’t make sense, this might be why.

Don’t forget the clocks go back this weekend (otherwise you might show up to Winter League a bit too early!!)

As the days are getting shorter, this seems like a good time to remind people about the importance of wearing bright or reflective gear when riding on roads, or even leading horses on roads. Give drivers a chance of seeing you well before they reach you! (Check out this photo for how not to do it). Aldi have bright cycling jackets and reflective bands on sale at the moment, and if you pop by the Wynnstay sale (below), you might be able to pick some up there too.

Winter League Show Jumping Results – Gwynedd

It was a very well run competition with lots of nice cakes to eat at the Gwynedd Winter League on Sunday! Flint & Denbigh had 5 teams and some individuals running, with a prompt start of Class 1 at 9.30am.  Our Class 1 Winter League team of Emily McParland & Charlie, Twm Cernyw & Tululah, Leah Jones & Koda and Orlagh Toner & Lucky Charm ended  up on team 3rd: the pigs and the ducks in the water tray causing some tricky problems! Emily also rode a lovely double clear and was individual 1st.

We had two teams in the running in Class 2, and there were only 4 double clears in this whole competition. Beatrice Blockley gained individual 3rd,  Jac Cernyw individual 4th and Lois Williams individual 6th. The Winter League team of Sali Wyn-Wheway & Toosie, Lois Williams & Jim, Jac Cernyw & George and Tegan Houston & Solitaire worked and listened as a team, which possibly forfeited a higher individual placing for Jac, but brought home the team 1st.

Class 3, and again a few problems for our team, but team 4th for Olivia Daulton & Bam, Harriet Williams & Flynn and Mary Jane Braughton & My Ellie.

Thank you to Jo Toner & Eirian Jones for keeping the scores, and to Beth Evans for the photos, and most of all to the members who rode for the teams and not themselves: parents, you should be very proud of them!
