LAYOUT:

The competition will be held in the Arenas adjacent to the indoor school (the Carpet Arenas).

  • Arena 1 (Classes 3 – 6) is the nearest to the indoor school.
  • Arena 2 (Classes 1 & 2) is the furthest away from the indoor school.

Collecting Rings for each Arena are located in the centre, adjacent to their respective competition arenas.

Each collecting ring will be divided into two – with a collecting ring and a practice arena for each competition arena.

Entry to the practice area may be restricted if necessary – please follow the direction of stewards.

PLEASE DO NOT STAND, MOUNTED OR UNMOUNTED,  in either of the practice arenas.

You should not be using your allocated practice arena until shortly before your competitive round is due to begin – stewards are instructed to refuse entry to those not due to ride within a given time.

The collecting rings are intended for riders, trainers and bone fide grooms – they must NOT be used for spectating. There is ample viewing provision on the other three sides of the competition arenas.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL YOUNG CHILDREN, PUSH CHAIRS, DOGS ETC. BE ALLOWED INTO THE COLLECTING RING. PLEASE EXERCISE COMMON SENSE AND HELP US KEEP YOU AND YOURS SAFE.

The secretary will be located in the wooden cabin adjacent to the indoor school. Any late entry fees MUST be paid before competing.

Toilets and refreshments are available in the livery yard.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Classes 1 – 2 – 3 & 5 – Area 5 Winter League Rules apply.

These four classes will comprise 2 full rounds with the 2nd round timed. There will be no 3rd round jump off.

The whole team will jump in succession in the first round whereas in the second round the team members will jump one at a time, one from each team in the order they jumped in the first round sequentially – or to put it simply – in number order!

  • Class 4 is the Dengie qualifying class for individuals and will be run as a two-phase competition. For those not familiar with two-phase, the following description may assist: “A competition comprising two phases run without interruption. The finishing line for the first phase is the starting line for the second phase. There will be eight or nine fences in the first phase, and four, five or six fences in the second phase including one combination. Competitors incurring a penalty in the first phase, or exceeding the time allowed, will be halted by the bell after completing the first phase. Competitors will be placed according to their penalties and time in the second phase and, if necessary, to their penalties and time in the first phase.”
  • Class 6 is also a class for individuals and does not form part of the Winter League competition. Again, it will be two phase.
