This competition was an Area Qualifier for the Triathlon Championships to be held in Milton Keynes, March 16th and was very well supported. There were 75 competitors making up 19 teams from a wide area; Aberconwy in the West, Blackburn in the North and Berwyn and Dee in the South. Flint and Denbigh had 13 members competing and guess what; the dream team of Ben Read, Madeline Maher, Mia and Neisha Roberts very nearly did it again but had to be content with second. The winning team from East Cheshire had an extremely fit adult in their team who achieved an amazing score. I will have to put a stop to that somehow!!
Everyone had a great time and they all did their very best and supported one another along the way.
Of the 12 Area 5 members who qualified, FOUR are from Flint and Denbigh. They are Mia Roberts, Ben Read, Madeline Maher and Hermione Williams. We wish them the very best of luck when they get there. They are all making a long weekend away of it.
Individual achievements are too many to mention but notable scores were Ben’s shoot (900) and he had top run. Hermione and Orlagh’s shoots – 940 and 920 respectively. Leah Lamb won the tadpoles and Imogen Kissane was 3rd. Jacob Edgehill was 3rd in Mini Boys, Mia Roberts was 2nd in a very strong Mini girl class, Ben Read won the Junior Boys and Madeline was 2nd in Junior Girls.
Next competition is a One Day Tetrathlon in Mostyn April 26th where the riding will be a mixture of XC and SJ, ground permitting. There is a Beginner’s Class.
