Winter League SJ

The latest table as of 8th February is available here

The weather started much better in Southview when many of us braved the storms here to head off to the Cheshire Hunt South Winter League show Jumping competition on February 1st.

Class 1 WL included Rhys Cernyw and Tululah, Seren Parry and Edward, Sophie Williams and Lonestar and Beatrice Blockley and Tick Toc.  The team ended up in 5th position, but gained 4 points as only a few WL teams were in front of them on the day. Beatrice Blockley rode a super double clear, which was speedy and correct, and she came home with individual 1st and a nice bag of carrots for Tick Toc.

Class 2 WL and after last minute changes due to illness, the team of Sali Wyn-Wheway and Wilma, Tegan Houston and Solitare,  Megan Woodcock and Lucy Locket,  Ffion Roberts and Ruby all rode well and with Megan’s correct double clear to finish, they ended up with team 2nd. Sali Wyn-Wheway and Wilma also rode a correct double round gaining individual 1st and the well deserved bag of carrots for Wilma and Ffion Roberts and Red came home with individual 5th.

Class 3 and the WL team of Ben Read and Dougal, Ellie Wilson and Lolipop, Sophie Wilson and Redinca, Brier Leahy and Avantie came home with team 4th. Ellie and her new pony Lollipop rode a lovely double clear and also gained individual 3rd .

Thank you to all who rode safe and correct for team placings and to John Wheway for keeping the scores in Class 2.  We are all working well together and I do hope all the riders are still enjoying the new challenges at every round.

Rider Development Pathway

The Pony Club is rolling out a new scheme this spring supported by the Sport England funded BEF Excel Talent Programme, to help develop its Members that show the ability to progress in their sport. The initiative will help to provide a stepping stone for young riders working towards the talent pathways of the Olympic disciplines, the British Equestrian Federation’s Sport England funded Excel Talent Programme and the UK Sport Funded World Class Programme. Together these initiatives form an athlete development pathway set out for equestrian sport towards the creation of future Olympians.
