Reminder

Please check your Tack is safe for use. Check the stitching on your tack, especially the stirrup leathers. Make sure your girth is the correct size, not too large that it can not be made tight and safe. Check the size of your stirrup irons, are they the correct size for the boots, not too small, they should have 7mm clearance on either side. (approx the width of your little finger).

Can I also please remind all members that Hoodies are NOT allowed when riding at PC Rallies, Training or Events.

Cheshire Hunt South Winter League Show Jumping

Cheshire Hunt South have added a second competition to the Area 5  schedule, to be held on Jan 12th at Southview (schedule attached).

I would rather not be sorting Entries and Teams between Xmas and the New Year, so could you please send all entries to me by December 21st  at the latest if you would like to be in a team, allowing time for the Christmas post,  so we can get the entries in plenty of time!!

Burton Cheshire Hunt Forest Winter League Show Jumping, Class 3

The standard of class 3 was very high, with 4 teams finishing on double clear, and although the Quality Street team of Becky Sedcole with Bayliss, Nicki Grey-Williams with Finleys Flight, Ben Read with Dougal and Heidi O’Brien with Johnson finished with only 4 faults, the other teams with a total of 4 faults were just a little faster.

The Winter League team of Lily Ann Pardoe riding Harry, Heidi O’Brien on Miller, Ant Woodbine on Sunny and Sophie Wilson with Billy were all clear in the first round, but then following Lily’s nasty accident, finished on a total of 8 faults.

The Roses team of three, Phoebe Woodbine on Rocky, Lois Roberts on Rover and Ela Mars-Jones riding Holly took through 8 faults in the first round and a further 8 in the second round, giving them a total of 16.

The other F&D riders, Ffion Thomas and Bally Bee, Heidi O’Brien with Potato, Sophie Wilson with Redinca were joined by a rider from CHS to make a mixed team.  They finished the first round taking through no faults, but then unfortunately finished on a total of 12.

Heidi O’Brien, Nicki Grey-Williams Ela Mars-Jones and Sophie Wilson all had excellent double clear rounds.

Unfortunately there were no Flint & Denbigh teams or individual riders in the ribbons this time although the scores don’t really show how well they all rode. There were no real disasters, just the odd pole, but because there were so many fast clear rounds, they were kept off the podium this time – but no-one should be down hearted, because they all rode so well, and were a credit to F & D.

I also forgot to mention in last weeks weekly that Ellie Wilson and Manukka came home with individual 4th in Class 2, well done to you both. She was in the Mars Bars team, who were placed in 6th position.

Seeing the Difference Workshop for Senior Members

We are organising an Area 5 Riding Workshop for Senior Members of 16 years and over. It is to be held from 10am-3pm on Sunday, 5th January 2014 at Maelor Equestrian Centre which is easily accessible from both Cheshire and North Wales.

It is to be run in the style of a Conference where members are welcome to come and participate with or without their horse.

In the morning we are concentrating on flatwork and in the afternoon on jumping. We shall benefit from instructors such as Pip Higgins and Richard Carruthers.

“There will be 2 groups of 5 riders in the morning and similar in the afternoon.  Trainers will be addressing those members who are on foot, as well as those mounted, so that it will be a learning experience for all.”

At lunchtime we shall have a chat to decide what events you older members would like us to organise specifically for you in the future.

Lunch of sandwiches and hot drinks will be included and the charge is £5 per member for the day.

Please let me know whether you would like to ride in the flatwork or jumping sessions and what level you and your horse are at or whether you would like to participate on foot with plenty of opportunity to discuss and ask questions with the trainers.

Please reply by Friday 20th December to … Debbie Miller, Clwydfro, Rhewl, Ruthin LL15 1TP … 01824 703254 … 07739551444 … d.clwydfro@gmail.com

Tetrathlon … Order Form Attached

Hi Tetters

We are aiming to get our F&D members who want to take part in PC Tetrathlon and  Triathlon kitted out in F&D team swimming costumes. Orders are now being taken for the Kiefer black & red team costumes (same design as previously ordered), they look very smart and would definitely give our members that extra team spirit boost!

I would like to get the orders off by 11th Dec if possible so that we have the costumes in plenty of time for the Area 5 Tri in January.

The F&D Team swimming costumes would also make excellent Christmas presents!

If you are interested please email Laura Owen : p.owen79@btinternet.co.uk

Meg has also asked me to look for red & black running vests (children’s sizes), this is proving very difficult…..if any one has any suggestions regarding suitable team running vests or tops, please email me: p.owen79@btinternet.co.uk  with the brand name, price and web address, so that we can order some of these as well.

Don’t forget Iona stocks Black F&DPC Tetrathlon sweat shirts, please can all competitors taking part in PC Tetrathlon and/or Triathlon competitions wear one, they make the F&D Team look amazing.

Many thanks … Meg & Laura
