Well Done to Megan Burns for raising £50 towards the Special Baby unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

Tetrathlon …

Hi Tetters …

We are aiming to get our F&D members who want to take part in PC Tetrathlon / Triathlon kitted out in F&D team swimming costumes. Orders are now being taken for the Kiefer black & red team costumes (same design as previously ordered), they look very smart and would definitely give our members that extra team spirit boost!
I would like to get the orders off by 11th Dec if possible so that we have the costumes in plenty of time for the Area 5 Tri in January.
If you are interested please email Laura Owen : p.owen79@btinternet.co.uk

The Flint and Denbigh Team swimming costumes would also make excellent Christmas presents!

Meg has also asked me to look for red & black running vests (children’s sizes), this is proving very difficult…..if any one has any suggestions regarding suitable team running vests or tops, please email me: p.owen79@btinternet.co.uk with the brand name, price and web address, so that we can order some of these as well.

Don’t forget Iona stocks Black Flint and Denbigh PC Tetrathlon sweat shirts. Please, can all competitors taking part in PC Tetrathlon or Triathlon competitions wear one, they make the Team look amazing.

Many thanks … Meg and Laura

Winter League Show Jumping

Well it was a funny old day on Saturday. The sun was shining, spirits were high and we were all ready for a good day in Southview, hosted by Burton Cheshire Forest!

Class 1 Team consisted of Ceri Jones and Charlie, Rhys Cernyw and Tululah, Steph Parsley and Chez and Beatrice Blockley and Tick Tock. They all rode nice steady clears in the first round, but so did another 8 teams, so the plan was to speed it up in the second round. The children all rode well, and the team were rewarded with second place, and some well deserved chocolate!!  Beatrice and Tick Tock also took individual 4th and also individual 6th with Sunny.

Class 2 consisted of two teams. The Winter League Team of Sali Wyn-Wheway and Wilma, Ben Read and Rocky, Tegan Houston and Solitaire, and Jac Cernyw and Gorgeous George, and the second Team of Lois Williams and Jim, Cari Lea Humphrey and Bridget, Sali Wyn-Wheway and Tootsie, and Ellie Wilson and Manuka and also Sophie Wilson and Smarty, and Efa Davies and Jade.  All rode well in the first round and again 8 teams were clear from the 14 teams in the competition. We decided on a bit of speed again in the second round as there were still 8 teams in the running and that’s when things didn’t go to plan. The first jump (a spread) to the second, could save some seconds with a very sharp turn out of it,which some of our riders and lots of other teams tried, but it must have been a very sticky one as most of ours had it down, as did most of the other teams! Nevertheless, the WL team were placed in second position, and the non WL team in 5th place. Sali Wyn-Wheway and Wilma were one of the not so many double clears, and her speedy time also gave her and Wilma individual 2nd placing and lots of chocolate!!

Class 3 and having declared to the course builder we needed a course change as we had competitors in class 2 and 3, the long afternoon started with 18 teams entered with their horses and ponies. We had 4 teams entered, and things were all pretty hectic trying to get through everyone as quickly as possible. Lilly Ann and Harry had a bad fall on the 2nd round. I am glad to report that both are stiff, but well and as they then retired and headed for home, I haven’t had any further results. We are in discussion with BCForest committee as they announced one of our riders was eliminated having been in Class 2, so we are waiting to hear back as we played by the rules beforehand and had declared it. None of our teams or individuals were placed, but everyone came home safe.

Thank you to Eirian Wyn Jones, Sheila Griffiths, John Wheway, Sian Thomas and Tracey Pardoe for taking scores on the day. These were a great help in Class 1 and 2 and helped us plan forward to the 2nd round.

I have kept a record of the Winter League table, and waiting for some amendments in class 1, which I think should read as follows after Saturday;

  • Class 1, CHS 35 points, FandD 33 points, Aberconwy 23 points.
  • Class 2, FandD 38 points, CHS 36 points
  • Class 3, FandD are on 21 points ( Not clear on others yet after Saturday’s comp!)

So we are in the running, let’s keep it up in 2014.

The dates I have for 2014 are;

  • **NEW** CHS January 12th
  • Aberconwy at Maelor, January 19th
  • CHS, February 1st
  • WYL and FandD February 16th
  • FandD February 28th, Northop
  • CHN, and Dengue final, 15th March Somerford.

A well deserved break now, wishing you all a very happy and healthy Xmas, and we look forward to many more wins in 2014!!

Thanks … Chris, Kathi and ALoma
