August 2012

Hi Folks,

The school holidays are nearly over, the Pony Club Championships have been and gone, and the new school uniforms purchased! So now is the time to start looking to next year, the dates for the Pt to Pts haven’t been finalized at the moment, but we are looking at there being six Pt to Pts hosting Pony Racing next season, the first being on Easter Saturday.

We are holding our introduction to Pony Racing and training day at Aintree on Thursday 25th October 2012. This is a good day for all with work on fitness of pony and rider, balance, what to wear, what to expect at the race course, work on the equisisor, and work on the gallops. This day will count for your qualification to Pony Race next season.

Application forms are not available yet, but if you would like to either ring or e-mail me and I can put your names on the list.

We would like to hold a Pony Club Race day next year, but as this years had to be cancelled due to lack of entries I would like some feed back re time of year, venue, this is a day purely for Pony Club members and races are scheduled to cater for all Pony Club ponies and members who are of the correct age, and height. Please let me have your thoughts on this by email as soon as possible.

Look forward to seeing you all soon.

Regards … Ruth

Catrin Pickles Charity Salsa Remembrance Event

Saturday, September 15, 2012 7:30pm

We (Keele University Students Union) are having a Salsa Party to celebrate the life ofCatrin Pickles and to help raise money for Therapies Unite, a volunteer organisation working with disabled children and adults based in Mexico.

Therapies Unite were lucky enough to have Catrin as one of their first volunteers in 2011 when she completed a physiotherapy based project in Puerto Vallarta. Catrin was an incredible volunteer, cared passionately about her work in Mexico and of course spent many nights salsa dancing until the early hours.

We…would love to have as many people as possible attend this event to celebrate Catrin’s life and love of salsa, to dance and remember and to raise money for a cause that was close to her heart.

We will be having a variety of lessons during the night, from beginners to improver level and have secured two amazing teachers for the night, Abu who will give us a flavour of Cuban Salsa and Reggaeton as well Edwin Rodriguez Ovalle, of Latin Brothers Dance Company, all the way from Mexico. We will also be having salsa performances, a live band and a raffle.

The event will be held at Keele University in the wonderful ballroom with a sprung dance floor and bar until 12.00am.

There is free parking just over the road from the Student’s Union.

Tickets will cost £5 on the door.

More details to follow soon!

For more information about the event please contact Laura 07576100823
