MINI CAMP MEETING Please read attachments.

Mini Camp 2012 – ‘Evening Activities’

Thanks to those who attended the Mini Camp meeting last Thursday at the Plough Inn, St Asaph, it gave parents who had not attended Miini Camp before an opportunity to ask questions and meet other parents who are also helping out at camp.

Mini Camp promises to be an excellent experience for the kids, fingers crossed that the Greek weather gods will be looking favourable on us this year.

The following was discussed;

  • Food & Menu
  • Evening Activities – Mini Olympics, Art & Craft & Working Horse Demo, plus the Flags of Equestrian Nations Achievement Badge( Details Attached)
  • Duties were allocated to those parents in attendance
  • Supervised tack cleaning session once ponies are turned out – Prizes for the cleanest set of tack on Friday & Saturday Evening.

The following objectives where made;

  • To create a fun learning environment were safety is paramount and encourage the children to embrace the Pony Club & Olympic values .
  • All parents must attend and do their allocated duties – a list of the evening responsibilities is attached.
  • Mini Olympic’s – activities will be organised both evenings, children will be placed in teams and allocated a country to represent, they will need to bring with them the Flag from that country (printed version or real flag), they will need a simple fancy dress that represents the country or clothes that are the same colour as their countries flag – eg a white T-Shirt with the flag painted on it (A Prize will be awarded to the team with the Best fancy dress), plus each team will need a 12″ cardboard Olympic torch for the relay – see attached list for allocated Team & Country your child will represent. Please can all children wear their Olympic fancy dress while competing in the Mini Olympics, this will add to the atmosphere of the activity.
  • ‘Flags of Equestrian Nations Achievement Badge’ – For this badge the children will need to have demonstrate knowledge of eight equestrian nations, including their capitals and the countries flags, plus be able to mention something about the country competing in various equestrian disciplines.
  • Nights are VERY cold and extra blankets or quilts are needed, plus warm PJ’s and a fleece to sleep in is recommended, and F&DPC coats to wear outside if cold.
  • Tuck Shop – will be open after the Mini Olympics at 7.15pm, tuck shop money in the way of small change would be ideal so the children can purchase sweats if they wish.
  • Please remember to put your child’s name on all clothing and equipment, as things can easily become mislaid and lost.

Look forward to seeing you all at Mini camp

  • Wednesday 25 July, 12pm

Glynd?r University, Mold Road, Wrexham LL11 2AW

Perfect for animal lovers of all ages, this talk by animal welfare expert Tamsin Young examines how a lot of traditional stable management and riding practices are at odds with horses’ and ponies’ behavioural and physical adaptations.

This can cause some animals to develop unwanted behaviour patterns, can lead to health issues, and may be the cause of loss of performance.

Learn how our traditional practices can be at the root of some of these issues, and what we can do to maintain good levels of horse welfare.
