Message from DC to Parents & members, please note …
HOODIES ARE NOT TO BE WORN WHEN RIDING AT PONY CLUB ACTIVITIES. MEMBERS WHO TURN UP WEARING A HOODY AT A RALLY OR ANY OTHER MOUNTED ACTIVITY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
Clothing and Footwear …
When mounted at Pony Club activities, Members should wear a riding jacket or Branch sweatshirt, jodhpurs with leather shoes or jodhpur boots or breeches and either leather or rubber riding boots, a suitable plain-coloured shirt with a collar and The Pony Club tie or a stock. Only standard riding or jodhpur boots with a fairly smooth, thin sole and a well defined square cut heel may be worn. Plain black or brown half chaps may be worn with jodhpur boots of the same colour. Tassels and fringes are not allowed. No other footwear will be allowed.
Stirrups should be of the correct size to suit the rider’s boots. They must have 7mm (¼”) clearance on either side of the boot. There is a tendency for manufacturers to put a treaded sole on riding boots. These will significantly increase the risk of the foot becoming trapped in the stirrup in a fall which could result in serious injury. In the interests of safety, Wellington boots, “Muckers”, or trainers must not be worn. Boots and stirrups with interlocking treads are not permitted, nor are the boots or treads individually.. New clothing is not expected, but what is worn must be clean, neat and tidy. Jeans should not be worn when mounted except when specifically allowed by certain disciplines. Polo shirts in Branch colours are allowed to be worn at rallies and at camp, however long sleeves should be worn for all jumping activities.

Well done to Suzi and the Welsh Games Team
The Welsh Mounted Games Team in Ireland (see photographs on our website … Can someone please send them to the webmeister … ta!)
Despite the delights of the Irish weather we had a marvellous weekend across the water for Suzi’s (Williams) last competition representing Wales in Mounted Games. It proved to be a thrilling weekend, with Wales lying second to England all weekend. Going into the final on Sunday afternoon Wales were dragging 14 points behind England and everyone thought they were undefeatable.
However, due to magnificent riding skills by the Welsh and England succumbing to pressure, coming into the last race Wales had amazingly pulled ahead by two points. It all rested on the Big Sack – Wales could not afford to let England be more than one place ahead of them.
With baited breath Wales’ supporters (which were many by that point, including the Irish!) watched as England and Wales battled it out, with England crossing the line just ahead of Wales. But it didn’t matter, Wales had won overall by one point in the most nail biting and exciting competition we had ever witnessed.
Amid huge congratulations we received the Perpetual Cup, with comments about how it made up for the rugby from many. A big well done to the team and thank you to the many supporters and well wishers.
Chrissie

Appeal to all Members
Could I please ask all members to
- BOOK IN as early as possible to all Pony Club Events. Rallies, Fun Days, Badge Days, Competitions etc.
- Let the organiser of the event know in plenty of time if you are unable to attend. Do not wait for them to contact you.
We have over 300 members in the Branch at the moment. If you Book In early the organiser then knows how long the venue needs to be booked for, how many in each group, how many hours to book an Instructor and is easier for Team Trainers to sort Teams for a competition.
Take a look at your Fixture List and BOOK IN now for any events you would like to attend. It will help to make all the organisers work a little easier.
Thank you
