Successful summer for the F&D Hunt Branch teams & individuals

Congratulations to members of our Branch who have been very busy this summer, representing the F&D at the Championships, which were held at Draycott Manor.

The junior games team- Sophie & Eden Greaves, Tomos & Owen Williams, & Megan Woodcock competed on the Sunday and finished 12th. The Senior team – Anya Dreiling, Suzi Williams, Nan Jones, Rebecca Sedcole & Wednesday Rytter competed on the Tuesday and finished 5th.

Intermediate dressage team Megan Roberts, Elin Chorlton, Ellie Williams & Lucy Grindal were 11th.  – Megan was 5th in her section & Elin 8th.

Georgina Clarke qualified for the open dressage competition. Georgina was 12th in her section.

The Open Show jumping team – Manon Owen, Lucy Grindal & Aaron Wilkes competed on the Sunday- The track was testing but unfortunately no rosettes were won this time.

Hollie Blockley qualified for the intermediate show jumping & she did very well in her section. Unfortunately the intermediate team had to withdraw from the championships due to injury.

Sophie Toogood had the most amazing time. She competed in the individual show jumping and was 4th. She then competed at the Horse Trials and finished 2nd in her section. The course caused quite a lot of problems for the competitors, many retiring or being eliminated cross country.

I watched Sophie doing her cross country round and she made it look easy. Well done to Sophie & Darcos Wisecracker. Read Sophie’s story here

The intermediate horse trials team – Manon Owen, Stephanie Hughes & Lucy Grindal also did very well. All three went clear cross country.

It’s quite an achievement to compete at the Championships, well done to all of you and thank you to parents for supporting the team trainers and getting the members to all the training sessions & competitions that lead up to the champs.

Flint & Denbigh Hunt Branch have definitely made themselves known this year.

I would also like to congratulate Sam Ecroyd & Laura Cocking, both of these F&D members have been selected to represent GB at the European Eventing Championships. Sam on the pony team, Laura on the young riders’ team.

“Champs appeal from the webmaster ….

Could all parents and competitors who participated in Champs at Draycott send me any photos they would like on the website.

What would be amazing if we could have the riders experiences in their own words too as stories with the photos.

Send any photos or stories to webmaster@fndponyclub.org.uk. Any videos for inclusion would be best sent on a dvd please. (Email please for snail address)

I am quite happy to crop and re-size photos but would ask that any photos that you crop are sized at least 800x600px and saved at least 80% jpeg quality … thanks …”

North West Area Point to Point

Ruth Hurley Pine Tops Station Road Pant Oswestry SY10 9QL

Hope you are all having a good summer.  I know some of you have qualified for The Pony Club Championships, or the Novice Championships, so good luck to all of you, and to those of you who are doing the Charles Owen Pony Racing Series – hope to see you at a couple of the races and at Aintree for the finals in October.

As an area we are very well represented both in the Charles Owen and at Pony Club.

We now start to think of next seasons Pony Racing – the Pt to Pt dates are not finalized yet, but we will probably have 8 Pt to Pts hosting Pony Racing next season, with the Albrighton being the first one in February – this is a joint area meeting with the West Midlands.  Some of you will already have seen on the PRA web site that a PRA/PC Pony Racing training day has been organized for our area at Aintree on 28th October, this will count to your qualification for next season.  The day will again be for all levels from the first timer to the experienced Pony Racer with instructors for all levels.  The day consists of balance and fitness work – both pony and rider, work on the equisiser, what to expect at the races, saddling up, and work on the gallops.  Put this date in your diary.  Application forms will be available soon, but in the meantime should you wish to go send me an e-mail and I will put your name on the list.

Happy summer, hope to see you all soon.

Regards … Ruth, North West Area Pt to Pt Pony Racing Rep
