Our Novice Show Jumping team who were 3rd at the Area Show Jumping competition behind Waen Y Llyn and Tanatside branches and therefore did not qualify, were given a ‘wild card’ last week and asked if they would like to compete at the Novice Championships at Kelsall last Saturday.
The team consisted of Rhiannon Johnson, Ant Woodbine, Nan Jones and Abi Cocking.
After a last minute lesson with Jane Gough Roberts and with her help on the day the team did exceptionally well and kept their cool in a class of 44 teams from around the country. At the end of the competition they had a team total of 8 faults in a very fast time which was enough to give them a very creditable 7th place.
The 2 courses were very testing, as they should be in a Championship, and no team finished on zero faults and so the 6 teams on 4 faults went to the jump off.
The day was very enjoyable and well run by the Cheshire Hunt North branch and all the results can be downloaded here as an Excel File.
